Do anything over and over again, and sooner or later, you'll turn it into a habit. That's why it's so hard to get back into the gym after you've avoided going for a while... But it's also why it gets easier and easier to KEEP going back to the gym once you finally convince yourself to get back in there.
Regardless of whether you break the chain or keep your habit-streak going – momentum will always either pull you UP or push you DOWN.
That's why, whenever we're working on building hard habits of any kind, we want to get as much (positive) momentum going as we possibly can.
